In 2016 the Canadian government passed the Medical Assistance in Dying law or MAiD, more than 31,000 people have died using the assisted suicide method since then. In 2021 Canada's Parliament passed an amendment that allowed patients with non-reasonably foreseeable natural deaths to participate in the MAiD program.
